DefenestrationI don't get any such problems with Nero
Bear in mind Nero will tell you it's burning at the Speed you choose at start when infact it's not writing at that speed.
Import/merge this registry entry to see what nero is actually burning at.
test before importing reg, then do same burn after importing.

you should get hold of memtest+ and test your ram.
check again all fans, wires, cables, change your psu for another.
Disconnect any extra hard drives, rom drives on a temp basis to see if you can get past not being able to install operating system, (you need 1 rom drive though to test, but try 1 if fails, then disconnect that one try another etc)
Maybe try another hard drive to see if you can install to that one.

In the words of kenny Everett.
"When England was a kingdom, we had a king. When we were an empire, we had an emperor. Now we're a country ... and we have Margaret Thatcher."

Should be getting anything from 22 meg a second to about 28meg max over usb2.
Db if you buy a device and it says usb2.0 (full speed) it means it will work on usb2 and 1 and give you the full 12mbps, (dodgy wording and has conned loads of people)
If you buy something that says usb2 high speed *with certified logo then it should signal at 480mhz and has max theoretical transfer of 480/8... though 480/8/1.125/and maybe further divided by another 1.125 to get a more accurate max theo transfer speed.. which would be 47,407k a second..
To further complicate it Not all logo'd certified high speed usb2 devices are that high speed , as previously mentioned i have a topfield 5800 Pvr that has this LOGO , due to the nature of the machine though it can only transfer just over 12mbps @ about 16mbps and as such can be certified HIGH SPEED, Annoyed the hell outta me as i was expecting like all my other high speed usb2 devices to be able to sustain at least 22 meg a second.
So as long as your getting 22meg a second say whilst builing iso , shrink etc then your good to assume your using usb2 high speed.
-
The only sharing is the amount of bandwidth each attached device can use on the controller.
Have you looked in the bios to make sure usb2 is on, incase you disabled it a while ago and forgot.
-
Let me know if you find it, apparently I have never been able to find it.................................

What the Hell are you talking about? That it's somehow swapping USB for Blue tooth?
not at all, that ain't what i mean.
Some one is saying your getting 900k , Shamus points out that infact your getting 27k, think it was chewy who pointed out 900k, was only saying if your only getting 27k you got problems, and that speed is more in line with what you could expect if you were using blue tooth, which i know your not..
You not got another external usb2 device , say enclosure to try or a usb2 flash pen etc.
-
or if your using maxtor
-
It's just dam bad LUK.
-
Think i will buy my first one when they are about 20p each.
-
You will only ever see the this device can perform faster if you plug a usb2 high speed device into a 1.X usb whether or not it is a usb 2 port or windows has turned ya usb2 port into usb 1X
Try using top left usb port on back of mobo, especially if you got Asus mobo.
And if your getting 27k a second it's more like bluecrap, well aol silver package bluetooth.
-
What IO are you using also is the file splitting set to Auto
edit i have just formatted one drive to fat32 again and read iso that was 5 gig + and shrink read in mds file in no trouble, your are using open disc image in shrink and not open disc ?
or is the disc you read in a VR one ie one from a home dvd recorder
-
LUK, sorry did not know was not supposed to mention what i typed, deleted now.
Tbh i should have realised.
-
in general look for the high speed certified logo
This as i have found out is not an absolute guarantee of High Speed as i bought a Topfield panther pvr with this Logo, and its a little faster than usb 1.1 and a dam disgrace IMO after displaying a certified logo.
you can check this link out to see if you can gleam any further info
http://www.usb.org/developers/usb20/press11_15.html
What i would say is connect your usb device to your back ports.
run Nero info tool and look at configuration tab, then look under enhanced pci to usb etc, EHCI or whatever version of usb2 is implemented into your mobo chipset. Your USB2 Device should be listed under there if not then your controller is usb1, the device is, the cable is.
Mine looks like this on a7v8x
Nero InfoTool 3.02

http://www.simplisoftware.com/Public/index...?request=HdTach
I used to use another program for this, cannot remember what is was, sure it was a japanese program and it's killing me cos i want to remember so i can use it, downloaded it a few times, but got too many Tb/s to look thru to find it.
[Edit] http://www.everythingusb.com/usb2/faq.htm
Actually not that i found anything untowards but the driver scan maybe a little biased, take what it tells you witha pinch of salt, do not pay to download drivers. (that aint aimed at you Db) just anyone else reading this that maybe new to internet etc.
Infact removed link

I would also like it to tell me where my keys are.
-
I would as the nvidia ide and most of the nvidia drivers suck imo, full of bugs, you,ll get sata drive appearing as removable sometimes, fail a warm reset, bios/post hang, then onto the lan driver, disabling lan(Ie on a temp basis) on some nforce driver will reboot ya machine.
Thank heavens for Ghost.
-
had a feeling it was nforce 3 or 4 and raptors.
You should maybe try and install one time without the nforce ide driver, see if you, like me get even better performance IE Write rate.
Though mine is 63,776 i ain't got raptors, shame they are gig limited and dear, i like the look of the x raptor but price kills me, could have a TB for same price as 2
-
what chipset is your mainboard based on also what make of hard drives you using
-
I tried a few times after ticking allow more than 8 Dir and each time failed, which is why rather than say its not working etc, wondered if there was another setting i was missing, Crappy mouse i am using at the minute left click is dodgy, you hear the micro switch click but does f all sometimes.
Defaults as you mention are always the best for standardisation
Stunning additions to your program yet again.
-
Actually i ticked it and must have unticked it again without realising, it fine now cheers
-
Thanks sure i tried that.
I know ISO 8859-1 ignores it.
Will give it another look
