I have an old Pioneer DVD-Rom that opens the tray with the disc still spinning at top speed in the tray . Leaves nice circular scratches on the edges of discs , needless to say it's not in frequent service
  3. An extremely handy feature.
  4. I was threatened by a dvd once, but I gave him a good scatch and haven't been bothered since.
  5. Open FabGold, Select Full Disc, then select Disc Folder, point to where your folder is and select it, choose whether to preserve menus or not on disc 2(for DVD9 only), as well as whether to jump strait to the movie, decide where to split at, then click Next, then click on DVD Image, it will create 1 or 2 iso's depending on whether it's a DVD9, it also creates video folders for each first, so you need a fair amount of HDD space first. Like Polpony says, DVDShrink works excellent for creating ISO's also.
  6. I don't know if you have DVDFabGold, but it will create ISO's that you can then use IB to burn. As far as DL's go, stick to what you say you've most recently tried.
  7. The advantage is that a lot of people feel that ImgBurn does a better job at burning than anything else, as some of us hate Nero with every bone in our body. Others are slightly more indifferent towards Nero and other burning software, and just feel IB does a significantly better job, with more functionality.

    V8s

    We'll have to start a Buick/DVD club
  10. You can centre your dvd's better than I can with my R200, I can't do a complete cover edge to edge without major bleeding due to printing on plastic. May have to get a newer plastic slide, apparently the new models have an improved tray.

Very nice, I've always liked the Riviara's.

My dial-up means about a 2 hr download. I still have my first car in the barn on blocks, a '67 Buick Wildcat, w/ a 430ci(7.4l) V8, 365hp, 360ft lb torque, 10mpg Can't afford to drive it anymore #39;(
  13. No, that was the Ren And Stimpy short, "A Yard Too Far." Also a main scene in "Hannibal".
  14. I have noticed what your describing on poor DL media(Ritek), but not on good Verbs like your describing. I've had very good scans (IMO) of Verbs at 6x, and burn all my DL's at max speed now. One thing you could try is running a Plextools scan again, unfortunately PI/PO scanning isn't an exact science, and I have noticed variations between dual scans on the same disc. As far as attachments, I don't think that's restricted, but you do have to host the image somewhere first, if you can't do that yourself there are freebie hosting sites available.
  15. And those corpses have to be from organ donors who obviously don't want an open casket funeral, and likely aren't that "pretty" to begin with. The phantom of the opera look may be a better alternative.
  16. Have you changed the booktype to dvd-rom?
  17. Looks like a hardware error possibly caused the problem on the first burn, LUK or a beta member will be able to better explain. On your successful burn you had it set @4X, on the unsuccessful it was set at Max speed. Have you tried the Sony/Taiyos at 4X? You should be able to burn them faster than 4X, but a successful burn at that speed will be a good place to start.
  18. As the forums you mentioned above have numerous threads with people having trouble with both hardware brands you mention, to say "nothing but praise" is incorrect, and as a result puts everything else you've said into doubt, including BenQ's w/ SolidBurn ability to make a cheap shitty dye last.
  19. It's fuckin' cold here today, first shot of winter, -20C!
  20. I afraid I'm going to have to call SHENANIGANS! All three sites you mention have as many problem threads for your favorite burners as they do praise. I have nothing against either LG or BenQ, but don't portray them as being perfect, they like ALL other burners have their pro's and con's, not the least of which is the rest of the computer it's in. On another note, Maxell has had it's share of problems recently, not the least of which is using CMC as one of it's manufactors.

    DVD Recorder?

Your TV has a built in dvd player, correct? Looks like you've got it just about covered, as a North American I don't have any hardware with Scart, does it carry audio as well? If not you'll need to connect your TV combo to your recorder with audio connections as well. If your plan is to record from your tv's dvd player, that likely won't work due to a certain copyprotection your TV's DVD player will likely output. In most cases recording from sattellite or antenae will be your only options. What exactly is/isn't it doing?
  22. While I can respect your opinion, I don't agree with it. One of my writers is a NEC, and it is a superb burner.
