  1. Depends on how your drives' firmware handles the MID info of the Verbs you ordered.
  2. Wrathchild; It's not that we are 'Verbatim guys', it is simply that we know what works and what is crap. We know that Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim have extremely close quality tolerances and that the other couple of producers in the world, who sell their stuff to anyone that wants to name it as their own, do not. We know that crap media will work for a while in almost every instance, and we also know that, when it fails, it's time to quit using it because something has changed on the users side of the process. Maybe the tracking servo is worn, maybe the power supply is getting weak, maybe the quality control in 85% of the new cake box of discs that you have just opened is crap; maybe you smoke by the machine and your lens is diry, maybe your cat pissed on the drive. Who knows all the maybe's involved and who can tell which maybe you're affected by? We do our best to guide and suggest answers, but we also know that mostly all problems are drive/firmware/media combination problems and that is where we start. spinner

  4. We do not support Shrink on this forum, questions like this belong in the chat area as it has nothing to do with ImgBurn, however check your settings and watch which audio stream you choose to include/delete.
  5. If you play with media long enough you may get it to work after your trial and error period os over, however some media is purely crap and it becomes a matter of chance as to whether it works or not. What we recommend here is designed to eliminate one of the many things that can go wrong with the process and media is always a big iitem when problems arise. What works for you is fine, however it does not invalidate the fact that we try to steer users to the best solution to their problem.
  6. Your discs are made in India, several companies have their names on them and they are not all that reliable according to a search on Google. Try to get some Verbatim DataLifePlus discs.
  7. Try this: http://www.docsdownloads.com/enditall-1.htm
  8. Look for a newer firmware, the media should go to 8x I believe.
  9. Memorex is crap, period. Where were the Verbs made? Laptop drives are crap, period. Update ImgBurn now, we don't support earlier versions. Without discussing transcoding programs, sounds like you need to do some research (Google) on a subject that we will not help you with here.
  10. Try here: http://www.meritline.com/newsearch.aspx?SearchTerm=verbatim+media+2.4x
  11. rcmx; I see you're in the States. If Verbs cost that much wherever you're located you need to shop online to buy them. If you calculate the cost of the failed discs into the total cost of purchase you're going to be paying more for your crappy Riteks than you are for the best available DL disc. I buy mine from here: http://www.meritline.com/newsearch.aspx?SearchTerm=verbatim+dvd+dl+media spinner

  13. Start ImgBurn...Click on the 'Help" button...Click on the 'ImgBurn Logs' button...copy and paste the log here, in your reply, that deals with your failure.
  14. Browning Ferris Industries?
  15. From the pink bit above:
  16. If you had posted the full log you would have seen the speeds that the burner recognizes as the burn speeds for your media according to it's firmware. Since it burns at 4X it is probably the lowest supported speed and ImgBurn cannot set a speed that the burner will not recognize.

  18. Read this: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 Your media is probably the worst available on the market. I/O errors are generally caused by your burner/media/firmware not playing nice together. You can look for an update to your firmware, try cleaning your drive head and buy some decent media and the problem should be history...
  19. Look at the recorded side of the cd. If it's scratched or lightly damaged you can use a cleaner-wax made for car finishes to repair it. It takes a while but I've repaired many damaged discs using this method. Get a soft, clean dry cloth and wrap it onto your finger like you're going to do a spit-shine on a pair of boots. Liberally apply some of the cleaner wax to the tip of the cloth and work the damaged area in small circles. The wax will slowly remove the damaged area(s) that you are working on and the disc will read correctly. This will not work if your disc is too severly damaged however. spinner
  20. AND....check the FAQ and have a look at your DMA situation.
  21. My 2 cents worth here... I use a black sharpie on everything I burn and haven't had a problem yet. Silver tops, inkjet tops, cd's,dvd's whatever, I haven't noticed anything going wrong.
  22. The above are taken from your log, since mkm-003 is capable of much greater speed, your drive doesn't recognise the media correctly. Your drive is also about 5 years old and drives that old have a bad time with Dl discs. I would advise that If you cannot find a firmware update, scrap the drive and get a new one spinner
  23. Not just yours. I agree with all you said Shamus. We have 3 laptops and 2 desktops at home, and for all the heavy lifting the only ones used are the desktops. spinner
  24. Who said we don't read these posts??? Hmmmmm.... You can try a better line than that.
