  1. Slower doesn't necessarily mean a better burn, especially on newer burners like yours
  2. I'd say the problem is the media you're using. You could try a lens cleaning disc on your Lite On burner to see if it helps, but it would be best if you could use high quality media, such as Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden.
  3. There's nothing to be fixed: the older versions simply didn't tell you about this write speed mismatch. Look in the older logs (you can find them in ImgBurn's Help menu) and you'll see that the burner used 4x anyway. If you want more help then please start a new thread and post the log from the failed burn.
  4. Try using the Incremental write type (Tools -> Settings -> Write tab). Aside from that I can't think of any other setting that could help What LUK said still stands
  5. That's because your burner only supports burning that media at 4x. It did burn and verify fine though, so it shouldn't be an issue. What's the problem you're having? By the way, there's newer firmware available for your burner (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished).

    help

The firmware update could help, but since it doesn't work on that drive then I guess the drive is dead
  7. Those operations are all handled by the burner itself: ImgBurn just sends the command and waits for the burner's response. Also notice that those operations can take different amounts of time depending on type of media and chosen write speed. The burner could be getting dirty, worn out or doesn't like the media you're using.
  8. I've heard Pioneer 116/117/216/217 burners are great for dual-layer burning, and since your internal drive doesn't work even with Verbatim media, I guess an external burner is the only option
  9. You can find the old logs in ImgBurn's Help menu. Laptop burners aren't good for burning, and since it seems you're doing a lot of dual-layer burns, have you thought about buying a normal-size burner in an external enclosure?
  10. Please install 2.5.0.0 and tell it not to keep your current settings (it'll use the default ones). Does it still do that? You haven't disabled AutoRun, have you? By the way, there's newer firmware for your burner (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished).
  11. The IDE setting is for the Marvell controller only. The controller and/or its driver is messing with the communication to the drive, and that's why you get the Buggy Sense Area Detected error. When this communication problem is solved then it should work without problems. The motherboard's user manual usually shows how to change the setting, and you can usually find a copy of the user manual on the manufacturer's website. As for the Asus burner, the errors it has shown before are usually caused by bad media/write speed combination. If it's working at 12x then keep using it and nothing else needs to be changed.
  12. Your burner is dead. You should be looking for a new one to replace it.
  13. Yes, the only way to know if it works is by burning a disc. Notice that this is a limitation of the +R disc standard, not ImgBurn's
  14. Newer burners, like both of yours, are better tuned for higher speed burns. We recommend burning at 8x or 12x because those speeds usually result in the best burn quality on most burners. You're already using high quality media so that isn't a problem either. Also, burners don't like being connected to RAID controllers. Is there a setting on the motherboard BIOS that allows you to set the controller mode? If there is set it to IDE mode. As for the driver, look on the motherboard's manufacturer website for the latest version. You could also try looking for the latest drive for your controller model using Google You could try format/re-install but I'm not sure it would solve your problem
  15. Or shrink it to burn on a DVD5...
  16. You can burn them in any of the supported write speeds shown in the Information box (those are reported by the drive itself). Have you considered that your current batch of discs could be lower quality than the ones you've burned before? Or the one that worked had just an acceptable (i.e. not great) quality? Your drive is capable of doing quality scans so I think you should do a few and compare with the ones from other members posted at http://club.cdfreaks.com/
  17. On DVDs you can only burn MODE1/2048 data and UDF 1.02 is the most compatible revision, both of which are the default values for those reasons
  18. Update ImgBurn. Also update your burner's firmware (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished). Try burning at 6x or 8x. You might want to try a lens cleaning disc on that drive. After doing all that, if it fails with Verbatim 2.4x blanks then you should start looking for a new burner

    help

Was there any error message? Did you remove any disc from the drive and closed its tray before updating the firmware? You could try the firmware update on another computer you might have access to, or maybe with an IDE to USB adapter
  20. I recall seeing quite a few people having problems with that drive and dual-layer media. Unfortunately, if the drive doesn't support the disc then ImgBurn can't do anything about it //edit: look at what was posted when I was replying to you: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=11389 (notice the drive model in destination device)
  21. The only thing you could do to make it a bit more compatible is to use ISO9660 + Joliet + UDF filesystems. No other changes necessary.
  22. You could try a lens cleaning disc on that drive to see if it helps, but I think your burner has worn out A new burner is pretty cheap these days so it would be best if you could get one
  23. What's the type and brand of media you're trying to burn?
  24. Do you want to write on the Verbatim DVD+R DL disc or do you want to read it? If you want to write it, check if your burner is capable of writing DVD+R DL media (right-click on its name and choose Capabilities).
