  1. It means your burner doesn't like the media you're using, or it doesn't support burning dual-layer media at all (right-click on it and choose Capabilities).
  2. 7-Zip/WinRAR/similar programs can do that.
  3. The controller where your Pioneer burner is connected to is messing with the communication to the drive. Look for updated drivers for this controller. As for the Asus burner, try a lens cleaning disc on it. Also try burning at 12x to see if you get a better burn.
  4. If I recall correctly only DVD+RW and BD-RE need formatting Anyway, choose the Write mode (notice the Mode menu), right-click on your burner's name and go to Erase Disc -> Full. Doing this will format the disc if it needs
  5. It writes at 4x because that's the slowest speed supported by your burner/firmware/media combination. You could try at 6x or 8x but I doubt it'll work. You'd have much better results with Verbatim 2.4x blanks. Or, if you still want to use those blanks, you should look for a new burner that can handle them
  6. Try installing this, and after that, this one.
  7. Return to the default settings (hint: the Defaults button in Tools -> Settings) and try again with Test Mode enabled. Do you still get the same error? Does your motherboard use an Intel chipset? You can use SIW to find out
  8. Also try burning at 4x or 6x, and if that doesn't work, then please read this -> http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
  9. The hashes on ImgBurn's Download page are there exactly so that you can check if the installer was downloaded OK/isn't corrupt. After that the problem could be with your computer/operational system/antivirus solution. ImgBurn.exe doesn't launch any other program other than ImgBurnPreview.exe, and even then it's only launched to preview layerbreak positions when burning dual-layer DVDs. ImgBurn also doesn't download any other programs or components. Have you scanned your computer for malware with other programs?
  10. Please look at this post from the FAQ. ImgBurn 2.5.0.0 installer has the above option built-in: Enable SPTI access for All Users.
  11. Also try burning at 8x or 12x for a possibly better burn
  12. That's an old model (the latest firmware for it was released more than 3 years ago). The current models are DVR-116 or 117 or 118 I think.
  13. It's not a software error: other programs don't report the error simply because they're ignoring it. If you've read the first post from this thread you would know that. Your log shows the disc had a successful verify, so what seems to be the problem? Have you tried with the SB04 firmware? Have you tried a lens cleaning disc on that drive?
  14. The drive doesn't support the booktype commands then (the manufacturer has to implement this in the firmware). Check with Apple for newer firmware for your burner, and if they don't have it, then you should ask them to add this feature. I recall seeing this same problem with all slim LG burners ever since GSA-T20N, maybe even before
  15. Guess we know what should be added next to the FAQ...
  16. How did you get the CUE file? Did you make it with ImgBurn?
  17. You did select 16x and it was burning at 16x but didn't reach that speed because you were burning too little data.
  18. Try a lens cleaning disc on that drive and then burn again with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks. If it doesn't work then I guess you should be looking for a new (external) burner.
  19. You can't erase write-once media: you can only erase rewritable discs. As for verifying slow have a look in the FAQ
  20. I've heard Pioneer burners are very good for burning dual-layer media
  21. In my opinion you have two options: try a lens cleaning disc on that drive, which may or may not solve the problem, or get a new burner (they're pretty cheap). If you go the cleaning disc route, then try burning at 4x, 6x or 8x speeds too
  22. ImgBurn shows what your drive is telling it, and in that case it's saying it doesn't like the media you're using. Try a lens cleaning disc on that drive. Also please post the log from that burn (look in ImgBurn's Help menu).
  23. Update your burner's firmware (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished). You might also want to try burning at 4x or 6x. If that still doesn't work, try a lens cleaning disc on that drive. By the way that doesn't seem to a be a genuine Verbatim disc
  24. Tools -> Settings -> Build tab -> Page 2, check Don't Prompt Image Details and click OK. By the way, you wouldn't need to do that if DVDFab used this command line switch:
  25. ImgBurn doesn't disable/gray out the options because it is assumed that the users know what they're doing. Besides, if the wrong command is used the drive responds with Invalid Command Operation Code or similar error. As for the BenQ burners I'm not sure if they're capable of bootyping to another type of media, but if ImgBurn offers the options it's because the original BenQ bootype tool also offered them.
