  1. Enabling AHCI won't decrease performance at all. Are you sure there's no option in the BIOS? What's the brand and model of your motherboard? Or at least it's chipset? You can use SIW to find out.
  2. Your SATA controller is in RAID mode and that's probably what's blocking the commands. Do you need to have it in RAID mode? It would be best if you could use AHCI mode. You should also install Service Pack 2 on your Windows Vista
  3. The SATA controller is in RAID mode, which can interfere with burners. Do you have/use RAID on your system? If not it would be better if you could set the controller to AHCI mode.
  4. Use SIW to find out which SATA controller/chipset your motherboard has and then download the latest storage drivers from the controller/chipset manufacturer website.
  5. Update your burner's firmware (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished) and try again. If it doesn't work the please read this -> http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
  6. Try burning at 4x or 6x (those are the 8x Verbatim blanks after all), and if it still doesn't work, try with the 2.4x Verbatim blanks. You might also want to try a lens cleaning disc on that drive.
  7. Update your burner's firmware (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished) and try again.
  8. Your drive doesn't like that media. Try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks and it should work.
  9. ImgBurn uses UPX compression and some antivirus/antimalware programs may wrongly detect it as a possible virus. Use the UPX console version to unpack ImgBurn.exe to see if this is the problem.
  10. Use the latest ImgBurn. Look for updated drivers for the SATA controller where the burner is connected. By the way... There's newer firmware available for your burner (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished), but you should solve the communication problem before updating the firmware.
  11. Are you running the latest version? Which antivirus/antimalware programs do you have?
  12. It does matter to a certain point, since old burner/firmware usually result in low burn quality, especially with new media.
  13. If it doesn't work after cleaning, you might want to try with 2.4x Verbatim blanks or you might need to buy a new burner that has better support for the 8x Verbatim blanks you have.
  14. Those files are locked by the operating system while in use. Are you using ImgBurn to backup your whole C drive?
  15. I've looked all around their support and couldn't find something that looks helpful to your case. If you can, open a support request with VMWare and explain to them what's happening. Maybe they have a solution for this communication problem
  16. Yes, Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden make the best blanks you can get. By the way, what's the brand and model of your burner? If you prefer you can copy/paste the first line of the Information box while in Read or Write modes
  17. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=6380 - copying a disc is very difficult Reading the disc doesn't damage it: your console reads it all the time when you're playing. Now, if it's gonna work or not is a whole other thing, and unfortunately we can't help beyond the burning part
  18. Can you post the log from that operation? You can find it through ImgBurn's Help menu.
  19. That's strange: the drive isn't returning the write descriptors asked by ImgBurn (notice it doesn't show the Supported Write Speeds). I would guess that this could be a bug with VMWare's USB driver, and this limitation could also contribute to the Layouts do not match problem. Are you using the latest version of VMWare?
  20. Look at the Supported Write Speeds field of the Information box: those are the available write speeds reported by your burner for the media you're using. Also slower doesn't necessarily mean a better quality burn. If you want more help then please post the log from that burn (look in ImgBurn's Help menu).
  21. Try burning at 6x or 8x to see if it works. You might also want to try a lens cleaning disc on that drive.
  22. I'm sorry but we can't help if it isn't an ImgBurn issue
  23. Your drive is only capable of burning CDs. You need a DVD burner in order to burn DVDs.
  24. With that disc in the drive and ImgBurn in Write/Build mode, please copy and paste here the text shown in the Information box (look in the Device tab if in Build mode). Then switch to Read mode and again copy and paste here the text shown in the Information box.
