  1. These are the write speeds your burner supports on that media, and in theory all of them should work the same, so if 8x isn't working then it's worth a shot trying the slower ones.
  2. Disable your antivirus/anti-malware program (some of them choke on the UPX compression ImgBurn uses) and reinstall ImgBurn again using the latest version. If you're using Vista/Windows 7 and UAC enabled, you should get the UAC prompt asking for administrator rights when installing ImgBurn. //edit ianymaty is on a roll today
  3. You can't force the drive to burn at a speed it wasn't designed to work at. Only old CD burners might be able to burn discs below 8x, and then the burn quality wouldn't be improved. By the way, why do you want to burn so slow? Waiting 80 minutes to burn a single CD disc is a waste of time. //edit ianymaty is getting faster
  4. Setting for what? It should work without changing anything. If you mean booktype then it's already automatically done by the burner and you don't need to worry about that.
  5. Look in the Supported Write Speeds field in the media information text, what does it say for your discs?
  6. When you use ImgBurn's Build mode it reads the files from their current location: it doesn't copy/move files to any location on your HDD. If you used the red X from the Build mode it only removes the item(s) from the compilation you're going to burn: it doesn't actually erase the file from your HDD.
  7. Update ImgBurn. Follow this guide -> http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=5555 Also it's a good idea to burn at 16x or maybe slower in order to get a better quality burn.
  8. Please explain in detail what's the problem you're experiencing.
  9. The reader device only cares about burn quality, i.e. readability of the disc, and the slowest burn speed doesn't necessarily mean the best burn quality, especially on newer burners which are better tuned for faster burns. That being said, media quality also plays an important part, and Sony CD-Rs should be fine (I also use them myself). If you really want to try the best, you could try finding Taiyo Yuden (also known as Victor JVC in some places) CD-R media. As for the burner, I don't think a new burner / different model would solve your problem, as it seems your Teac CD player that is being too picky about what it plays. Even though it probably isn't what you want, but have you thought about hooking a DVD player in place of the Teac CD player? My sister used to use an old Philips CD player hooked to her hi-fi and it didn't read any kind of burned disc, so I bought one of those small no-name chinese DVD players and the little bastard plays anything you throw at it, and in any format too
  10. The discs that don't work, do they burn and verify OK? Please post a log from one of those burns (look in ImgBurn's Help menu and you'll find the previous logs).
  11. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 //edit phew! LUK almost got me there //edit² iFail please read the posts below
  12. Update your burner's firmware (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot the computer after the updater is finished) and try again. You could also try burning at 4x instead of MAX (8x in your case).

  15. Post the burn log from the disc you burned with the SATA LG burner. The interface or OS doesn't make a difference when it comes to Audio CD burning, by the way, just the burner itself, its firmware, write speed and the media you've used.
  16. Burn at 16x or slower and it should work better.
  17. Look for the latest drivers for your system's chipset/storage controllers (this website might help).
  18. Then you should manually install the latest drivers for your chipset/storage controllers, as they could be messing with the communication with the burner. Also please post a copy of your Filter Driver Load Order (look for that option in ImgBurn's Tools menu and click the Clipboard button so that you can paste the text here).
  19. Because your burner supports that media at 4x and 6x (2.4x isn't an option so the burner has been using 4x automatically), and what isn't working at 4x might work at 6x, and that's 8x rated media after all.
  20. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 - try with Verbatim DVD+R DL blanks, and if it fails with them, then your burner might be dead. If you still want to try with your current media, try burning a brand new blank disc at 6x speed. You could also try a lens cleaning disc but I'm not sure if it would help much.
  21. You could try connecting your burner to another SATA port available inside your computer. You could also try a new SATA cable to ensure the cable is not the problem. If you happen to know how to access your system's BIOS please let us know if your SATA controller is in IDE compatibility mode, AHCI mode or RAID mode.
  22. Look for the latest drivers for your system's chipset/storage controller(s): this website might help, or you can identify them using SIW and then googling the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers. You should also apply the latest firmware for your burner, but I'd advise to do this as the very last thing to do since if it hangs it could brick your burner.
  23. These are the speeds supported by your LG burner with that media, and since it worked fine with 4x then stick with that speed
