  1. Yes, that's normal Maybe you're finding this behaviour strange because other programs simply don't care about what the user wants
  2. There's firmware 2D15 available for your burner. Remove any disc and close the tray before updating. Reboot after the update has finished. Also make sure the disc is clean (no fingerprints/dirt/etc).
  3. Yes, you can do it with ImgBurn (guide here)
  4. Have a look at this post as it may be relevant to your problem
  5. Can you post the log of the burn session where that happens? You can find the log at Help menu -> ImgBurn Logs.
  6. That's a poor quality dual-layer disc: it couldn't be read by the drive that burned it, do I need to say how bad is that? Switch to Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) Made in Singapore blanks and you should get good burns
  7. There's firmware MS0R available for your burner. Remove any disc from the drive and close the tray before updating. Reboot after the update has finished. When you buy more blanks get Verbatim 2.4x (MKM-001-00) Made in Singapore blanks and you should get better quality burns on them
  8. Try cleaning the DVD and reading on several different drives, maybe one of them can read it.
  9. You are right: this media is low quality. Try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks and it should work
  10. Actually the ones made in India are inferior quality, that's why I asked
  11. Try using ISO9660 + Joliet and see if it works
  12. Overview of ImgBurn's Build mode
  13. Please post the log from when you've burned the diamond castle DVD (you can find it at Help menu -> ImgBurn Logs). Also try playing that DVD on the computer and see if it has problems playing at the same point it has in the standalone DVD player.
  14. Have you tried burning at the other available speeds? If you can, try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media and it should work
  15. Actually you were "overspeeding" the burn to 18x, and the blanks are rated for 16x. You should still get a good burn at 16x, but on most newer burners, the best burn quality is achieved at 8x and 12x speeds By the way, where are your Verbatim blanks made? India? Singapore? Somewhere else? It's written in the packaging/box/spindle.
  16. Use DVD Flick (free) or ConvertXtoDVD (paid) to convert your MPEG-2 file and burn the output VIDEO_TS folder to disc, which will be playable on any standalone DVD player including Xboxes
  17. Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) Made in Singapore blanks gave the best burns in our tests, and from experience we know that they work when other dual-layer media failed, so the only way to really know is by trying
  18. When burning from the .dvd file you don't need to manually set the layerbreak (the .dvd file tells ImgBurn where to place it), so please put it back to the default Calculate Optimal setting Also leave the interface setting in SPTI, as the problem you're having isn't related to this. Dialysis1 is right, and I'd like to add this: when buying the Verbatim DVD+R DL blanks, get the 2.4x rated ones; the ones Made in Singapore (look in the box/packaging/spindle) are the best you can get. Don't get the 8x rated ones as they're incompatible with your burner.
  19. Was this intentional? I mean, you're only burning 5 small files to a DVD disc. If this wasn't intentional, go to the Options tab of ImgBurn's Build mode and click Reset Settings, then confirm. Please put the Write Type back to DAO/SAO (it's in Tools -> Settings -> Write tab). You can change the write speed in the Device tab of ImgBurn's Build mode. I would recommend trying 8x or 12x and it should work. Are those blanks made by Verbatim or other brand? Have you tried with DVD+R blanks?
  20. Nope. It does seem your drive doesn't like blank dual-layer discs anymore. Can it at least the burnt ones? If I were you I'd replace the burner for a Pioneer 115 or maybe a Samsung S202 (burn at 4x on both of these burners as this produces a better quality burn than at 2.4x)
  21. Where are you looking for the disc's booktype? In the Information pane the current booktype is under Physical Information (Last Recorded). It's also in the log at the start of the Verify process.
  22. CopytToDVD uses Patin-Couffin interface and CloneDVD uses ElbyCDIO interface, both available as options in ImgBurn's I/O settings, so try with them and see if it works.
  23. If the burning speed doesn't go above 2.0x then it's still working in PIO mode, and Windows may lie when it says the device is in UltraDMA mode, that's why I said to follow the post all the way through (removing controllers and rebooting)
  24. Yup, these are the 8x Verbatim DVD+R DL blanks
  25. Or you could Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks and burn at max speed anytime
