  1. Loading an image file in Write mode, regardless if it's 4 or 7 GB, should be quick. The issue here is your drive taking a long time initialising the disc and then saying it isn't empty. With ImgBurn in Write mode (no need to load an image) and a blank Verbatim DVD+R DL disc in the drive, copy the text shown in the Information pane and paste it here for us to look at. My guess is that you've bought the 8x rated Verbatim DVD+R DL blanks, which probably aren't compatible with your burner
  2. Proceed as this post says all the way through (removing controllers/etc) and it should come back to normal speeds By the way, in safe mode drives are limited to PIO mode so it'll always be slower than normal (it's safe mode afterall!)
  3. Make sure your Sony DRU-710A burner is using the latest BYX5 firmware and try again. The new pack you bought, are they still the 2.4x ones (MKM-001-00) or the new 8x ones (MKM-003-00)? Because if it's the latter I think your burner doesn't support them. As for the Imp ID that's the Implementation Identification present in the disc image you've loaded in Write mode.
  4. The only way to create a MDS file for a given ISO image is by going to Tools menu -> 'Create DVD MDS File' option (there's no command-line equivalent for this). By default ImgBurn, in its Read and Build modes, creates MDS files when they're needed, so I take it these images were created with other program?
  5. Those are low quality blanks, so try burning them at 8x or 12x and you might get them to burn. Also leave the Verify enabled, to make sure they burnt properly. We recommend using blanks made by Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden, as both have a high success rate on most burners (have a look in our Drives & Media section if you're in doubt)
  6. Hold Windows key then press Pause/Break -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager button or Right click on My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager button or Open Control Panel -> double-click on System -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager or Right click on My Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager or Hold Windows key then press R -> type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter or Start -> Run -> type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter
  7. Someone didn't read the pink bit at the top of this forum... (hint: the answer to your problem is the 2nd post of the FAQ)
  8. Can you test this drive on another computer? Or with some SATA-to-USB adapter or something similar. Anyway, it does seem the drive is defective, and not being able to read pressed DVDs is a strong sign of this
  9. The log isn't deleted when ImgBurn is uninstalled/reinstalled, so please have a look in Help menu -> ImgBurn Logs option again As for media I was referring to the brand/type of discs you've used before, are they the same? Try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks and see if it works
  10. My PS2s (two 39001 and one 50001) work fine with both DVD-R and DVD+R, but I've heard a lot of stories where PS2s worked better with one format than with the other. I guess you'll have to try both and find out which one your PS2 likes better
  11. Are you using the very same media you're using before? Can you post the log from the last burn you've done? You can find it at Help menu -> ImgBurn Logs
  12. That's why we recommend Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden blanks: they have consistent high quality and work on most burners. Other brands may change the dye of the disc whenever they want, and this affects burn quality
  13. Don't want to rain on your parade but it worked because you burned a CD, which is a whole different deal than DVD
  14. Please post the log from that burn (you can find it at Help menu -> ImgBurn Logs)
  15. That disc already was the result of a bad burn and got damaged in the process, so please throw it out (or use it as a coaster) and try a new blank disc. Also try burning at 4x to see if it works better. As blutach said, check with your laptop manufacturer for a firmware update for your burner. You may also want to try Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden 8x-rated blanks, as you might have more luck using them on a laptop burner. If after doing all this it still doesn't work, get a normal-size burner in an external enclosure, as laptop burners are too picky about the media they like and don't have too long of a lifespan
  16. It seems the drive can't burn the media you're using, yet it's not erroring out like it usually would, which is a whole different issue than DMA problems (it would burn at a steady slow speed not completely stopped like yours seems). Can you post the log from that burn? If you've closed ImgBurn after that it'll be in Help menu -> ImgBurn Logs.
  17. I have TrueCrypt 6.0a and a Samsung SH-S203B (20x SATA) and never had the L-EC uncorrectable error, if that information helps
  18. In ImgBurn go to Tools -> Settings -> Write tab, change Write Type to Incremental and click OK. Now try burning again and see if it works. You might also want to try burning at slower speeds.
  19. Your HP burner is telling ImgBurn that there's no disc in the drive. It seems it couldn't recognize/initialise the disc you're using. Are you using another brand or type of disc? The one you're trying isn't supported by your burner
  20. What exactly is the problem you're having when trying to burn DVD-R? Can you post a log from ImgBurn (you can find it at Help menu-> ImgBurn Logs)?
  21. What exactly does ImgBurn show in the status bar at the bottom?
  22. Please try that CD on other drives (save the Information pane content to a text file if possible) so that we can narrow down if it's a problem with the drive interpreting the disc's TOC (Table of Contents) or if the disc uses some copy protection (invalid/corrupt TOC it would seem)
  23. Try burning that :& media at 8x or 12x and it might work, but really, CMC MAG dye is very low quality. You'll have much better results using Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks. Also look in your computer's manufacturer website if there's an updated firmware for your TS-H652M burner. You may want to crossflash it to a Samsung SH-S182M if it isn't under warranty anymore. For more info on that please have a look at the Mini-FAQ for Samsung DVD writers. By the way, you can burn DVD-Video files directly to disc (no need to create an ISO image first). Have a look here on how to do it
  24. Have you tried reading this CD on other drives?
  25. Please post the whole log from that burn + verify This post from the FAQ tells you how to avoid this problem
