  1. The position of the layerbreak only matters when dealing with DVD-Video, so you'll only need to choose one when burning DVD-Video content. The best dual-layer media is Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x MKM-001-00 Made in Singapore. By the way, in ImgBurn go to Tools -> Settings -> click the Restore Defaults button, answer Yes and click OK. The default settings work fine for most people on most systems, and the problem you had is due to low quality media (have a look around this forum and see how many people complain about CMC MAG media like yours)
  2. If the "then i created a iso image" bit involved using DVD Flick then you'll get better answers from their forums, as this seems like a PAL/NTSC issue
  3. If you use ImgBurn on the Windows XP install, does it work correctly? By the way SP3 doesn't slow anything down. In fact, if you multiboot XP SP2 and XP SP3 you can't tell one from the other without looking in system properties
  4. Use ISO9660 + Joliet + UDF 1.02 and the destination machine will read from the better filesystem it can recognize
  5. If the newer firmware had any problem it'd have been pulled a few days after release and a newer version with fix would be released. As for the wording I think it's due to bad translation, happens all the time with LG firmware releases As for the speeds, it's down to each burner manufacturer, their test methods and firmware development team, so yes, each burner model may show different available speeds for the very same disc
  6. By default ImgBurn calculates the optimal position for the layerbreak when dealing with data discs, so, if you haven't changed the Settings (under the Tools menu) you have nothing to worry about

    erasing cd-rw

If the disc verified succesfully then it was correctly burnt and it's an exact match to the contents of the ISO image. You should then check if the ISO image isn't corrupt or maybe try burning it to a DVD-RW/DVD+RW/DVD-RAM you may have lying around
  8. When you used burnatonce to create the working CDs, did you burn them as data CDs or audio CDs?
  9. Are you using the latest ImgBurn? Can you post a log from that burn? You can find the log at Help -> ImgBurn Logs.
  10. ImgBurn can only copy discs as a whole (i.e. it can't add/remove/edit DVD-Video content). For doing what you want you'll need to use a DVD authoring program. After you're done editing, you can then use ImgBurn to burn the final result to media
  11. If your players support reading MP3s from data CDs then use Build mode ("Write files/folders to disc"), choose ISO9660 + Joliet as the filesystem (Options tab) and burn at a slow speed (Device tab)
  12. Remember that you can use ImgBurn to create a MDS file (Tools -> Create DVD MDS File) and there replicate the info from DVDFab's .ini file
  13. Maybe when you select 8x the drive is actually burning the CD-RW at 4x? Anyway, the latest firmware ensures best quality burns so I'd apply it if I were you. As for the description, it looks like a translation error, and from what I can tell, a bug was fixed where a pressed DVD disc was identified as DVD-R.
  14. CMC MAG makes crappy DVD media, so no wonder your BD-R doesn't burn Try with Verbatim media and it'll work, as you can see here
  15. Please post the log from that burn (you can find it at Help -> ImgBurn Logs).
  16. I'm sorry but you'll have to look elsewhere, as that's not something ImgBurn itself can do
  17. ImgBurn works fine on Vista x64 and don't worry about memory: by default it uses around 60-70 MB
  18. ImgBurn can't do that What you could do is use the Queue feature to burn the same image on all burners sequentially.
  19. You could also use the Automatic Write Speed feature to always burn each type of media at their best speed
  20. Then it is having problems reading that disc, as it should show a golden DVD-Video disc, if I recall correctly.
  21. If it passed verification without errors then the disc was properly burned and is an exact match to the ISO image. As it doesn't work, the ISO image probably is wrong/damaged. How was it generated?
  22. With ImgBurn in Write mode and a blank disc in the burner, look at the Information pane on the right side of ImgBurn's window: there will be listed the Supported Write Speeds allowed by your media/firmware/burner combination
  23. Even though you may be using the same brand, it's the dye used to manufacture the disc that's important, and brands may change the dye on different batches. Besides, PS2 consoles are known to be picky about the media they like, so that's why I asked about playability on a standard DVD player
  24. The DVDs that don't play on the PS2, do they play OK on a standard DVD player? If they do maybe your PS2 doesn't like that kind of media.
  25. Yeah, but the files will be burnt as data and if the person's DVD player doesn't support playing from AVI files the disc won't play. By converting to DVD-Video with DVD Flick or similar program, the disc will play on any standard DVD player
