Book Type Change for the TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632H D500 (ATA)
mmalves replied to jazzytaxi's topic in ImgBurn Support
Unless one specifically needs the booktype to remain DVD+R DL, it's always a good idea to booktype to DVD-ROM, as these burned discs are compatible with a lot more devices, especially older ones. This is so true that on Pioneer burners, for example, the burner itself automatically booktypes DVD+R DL media to DVD-ROM. If you can, stick to burning with your desktop computer, as burns on that drive (if it's not too old and has up-to-date firmware) are likely to be better quality than the ones made with your laptop burner, especially on dual-layer media. Crossflashing is when you apply on your burner a firmware that was made for a different burner/model. In your case, your burner is manufactured by Samsung and uses Dell firmware. By crossflashing it to the equivalent Samsung model, you'd be using firmware made the burner's manufacturer themselves, which usually has better support and burn quality for most types of media. Crossflashing isn't a complete paradise though: it can easily render your drive completely inoperable and could even prevent your computer from starting when the crossflashed drive is connected. I would only advise doing it if your laptop burner was the only one you could use, if you needed it for an emergency or if you couldn't care less about losing the drive -

Open ImgBurn, switch to Write mode, insert one of the previously burned discs, copy the Information shown on ImgBurn's window and paste here. The No Reference Position Found usually happens when your drive doesn't recognize/support the media you're trying to use (e.g. brand new 16x blank on an old burner). -
ImgBurn's Read mode creates a disc image (i.e. an exact representation of the source disc including its filesystem) and, even though you can name it whatever way you want, it still is a disc image. You can play it with VLC Media Player because VLC was designed to be able to play video from disc images. Windows Media Player and others were not designed like that, so that's why they can't open it. Use WinRAR/7-Zip/IsoBuster/etc to extract the contents from the disc image that you renamed and you'll probably be able to play them on pretty much any program. By the way, unless you want to burn an exact copy of your source disc, or maybe have a backup disc image stored on your HD for later burning it, use Windows Explorer/My Computer to copy the disc's contents.

Are you sure you have a DVD burner? Can you post a log from ImgBurn? It's in Help -> ImgBurn Logs. -

Book Type Change for the TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632H D500 (ATA)

After a quick check over at CDFreaks forum I found out that Dell's D500 firmware (possibly older versions too) doesn't allow booktyping/bitsetting of +R media -
There's a newer firmware TS12 available for your burner (you have TS07 at the moment) so you should apply, but remove any disc from the drive and close the tray before doing this. The problem seems to be the dual-layer media you're using, which uses a poor quality dye. Try with Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x MKM-001-00 Made in Singapore blanks and it should work
-
Try DVD Flick Play the converted videos after using DVD Flick to check out if their quality is acceptable.

Haven't used 7-Zip much, but I know WinRAR can add new files and refresh existing ones to a compressed RAR archive, which also adds an extra layer of data verification through the use of CRC32. You can then burn the RAR archive to RW media with ImgBurn
-
Have you forced ImgBurn to do this? If you didn't then the drive didn't properly recognize that media, which is crap anyway. Try with better media, such as Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks, and see if it works
-
ImgBurn can't read protected discs, and yeah, X360 games are protected
-
Try burning one at 2.4x and see if it works.

Try with better media, such as Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks, and it should work. If you still want to try your blanks, try burning them at other speeds. Also make sure the blanks are clean (no scratch/dirt/fingerprints on them).

Well, your burner doesn't like those discs for some reason. Where are your Verbatim DVD+R DLs made? Singapore or India? It's written in the packaging/spindle. Unfortunately only a firmware update could help solving this problem. I guess you'll have to use another computer to burn this or you'll need to buy an external burner.
-
That disc is the result of a failed burn from another burn attempt and it got damaged in the process, so you'll have to try a new one. But first, contact the laptop manufacturer and check if there's a newer firmware available for your burner. Alternatively you could get a normal-sized burner in an external enclosure, as they're reasonably unexpensive and will make better quality burns

What you're looking for are features of a backup program; try WinRAR/7-Zip as they should be able to do what you want
-
ImgBurn doesn't "rip" anything
-
Game discs usually have copy protection that doesn't allow you to play from a copy. Try mounting those disc images to a virtual drive like Daemon Tools (or similar program) and see if you can install and play that way. If you can, you could burn those disc images to a DVD and mount them with Daemon Tools everytime you want to play

Install DC Bass Source and it should take care of the on-the-fly decoding for you I suspected the BR in your nickname could be from Brazil, welcome to ImgBurn's forum

ImgBurn uses DirectShow for decoding the source files, so it'll use the standard filter registered for each type of file. You can find out which filter this is on your system by rendering each different type of file with GraphEdit, or any other program that uses DirectShow for playing (most players do). ImgBurn automatically inserts a 2 second gap before the first session of an Audio CD, as per the redbook standard. This is always done and isn't affected by the PreGap selected for any track. Notice the Disc time is always 2 seconds longer than Session 1's time

When burning from the .dvd or .mds file you don't need to manually set the layerbreak position, as those files tell ImgBurn where to place the layerbreak

Can you provide the log from when you've tried with Verbatim media? -
Interpretation Write Error! randomly appears.
mmalves replied to vampmaster's topic in ImgBurn Support
That's not right and it shows the drive can't properly recognize the media, therefore it can't burn it
