The dye used to manufacture your blanks is made by CMC media, which is known to make poor quality dyes. If you read a few threads from the Support forum you'll see a lot of people having problem with CMC discs. Try burning at 8x or 12x (selectable in the Device tab of Build mode) and it might work, but do notice those discs are unreliable.

A log would help us solve your problem (you can find it at Help -> ImgBurn Logs)

Get Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x MKM-001-00 Made in Singapore blanks and it should work

When the burner supports the media it informs the available write speeds, like this: I 23:45:52 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-001-00) (Speeds: 2,4x; 4x; 6x; 8x) Your burner did fins the Media ID code (RITEK-S04-66) but it didn't inform any available write speeds, which indicates that the burner doesn't have support for it. Those Verbatim DVD+R DL AZO 2.4x Made in Singapore you found are the ones to get. When you put one in your burner the Media ID MKM-001-00 will be shown, along with the Supported Write Speeds, on the Information pane of ImgBurn

Please follow this guide to burn the Roxio27.iso file that you made before

If you want to copy the discs as they are (i.e. not changing anything) then follow this guide. But if you want to extract the tracks from the CDs you'll have to use Exact Audio Copy, Audiograbber or one of the many other programs specific for extracting CD audio

Which further indicates that it's the media at fault here, since even using another reader errors out at the same place. If all those failing-to-copy backups were burned from the same batch of blank media then the batch was botched.

Try burning at 8x or 4x and see if it works. You'll have better results using high quality media such as Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden blanks

The burner doesn't support the media you're trying to use (notice it doesn't show any Supported Write Speeds). Get Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x MKM-001-00 Made in Singapore blanks and it should work The best firmware for that burner seems to be 2.1B so you might want to try that too if you know what you're doing

ImgBurn shows what the drive tells it, so that information comes directly from the drive. Even though the media manufacturer rated it for 2.4x a long time ago, burner manufacturers have found that it burns fine at 4x, 6x and even 8x at acceptable results

New drives are optimized for speed so that's probably why it only has strategy for 4x. The GSA-H55N, if I recall correctly, also starts at 4x for MKM-001-00. By the way, my Samsung SH-S203B SATA burner produces much better burns on MKM-001-00 at 4x than it does at 2.4x. I've heard newer Pioneer burners also produce better burns at 4x on MKM-001-00s.

Your drive doesn't properly support those Verbatim DVD+R DL 8x rated blanks. You could try burning at 4x but it's doubtful that it would work. Try getting Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x MKM-001-00 Made in Singapore blanks, or if you can't/don't want to return/exchange your Verbatim 8x DVD+R DLs then you should get a new burner

There's newer firmware available for that burner at http://au.lgservice.com/ (click Device Driver -> DVD-ROM(Writer) -> go to page 2 and firmware EL01 for GH20NS10 will be there). Remember to remove any disc and close the tray before updating the firmware. Also try burning at other speeds (look at the Supported Write Speeds field of the Information window)

Are you using the latest ImgBurn 2.4.2.0? I recall a similar question was made a long time ago, I'll try and find it

Please install the latest ImgBurn available here There's newer firmware for that burner available here (D.0N). Remove any disc and close the tray before upgrading the firmware. This firmware upgrade might improve burn quality. Anyway, that burner is pretty old and might be doing unoptimal (is that a word? ) quality burns on more recent media. Notice that it only accepts DVD+R/DVD+RW discs, while for many years burners have been able to burn both -R and +R DVD formats. A new burner would make better quality burns on most media, not to mention they're pretty cheap nowadays. As for media, the best ones in our experience are Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden blanks, as they work best on most burners and they keep their quality over time

It sounds like your DVD player doesn't like the discs you're using. What brand are they? Can you post a log of one of those burns? You can find it in ImgBurn's main window at Help->ImgBurn Logs. This is quite common actually, as computer drives are much more forgiving with bad quality media. Please install the latest ImgBurn available here There is a newer firmware available for your burner (1.07). There also is a newer firmware available for your Pioneer DVD-ROM drive (1.33). Having the latest firmware might help in reading problematic discs, and in the burner's case it may improve burn quality. Remember to remove any disc from the drives and closing their trays before upgrading their firmwares. Look under the disc for scratches/dirt/fingerprints, clean them and try again. If the disc is brand new then it has a manufacturing problem and should be returned. You might want to try reading this disc on other drives

Look for a firmware upgrade for your burner, as I've found mentions of firmware 1.01 but couldn't find a link for it. Where are you Verbatim DVD+R DL blanks made? It's written in the packaging. After upgrading the firmware you also might want to try burning at 4x speed, as some burners perform better burns on that speed

That's LG drives' way of saying that it couldn't read the sector (I have several of their drives and everytime I got that error was a scratched/dirty disc or a bad burn) and yes, even though you don't think so, it's down to the media used. This is exactly the problem with poor quality media: inconsistent quality. A firmware update could improve burn quality of that media, but I didn't find any for your burner Buy a few Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x MKM-001-00 Made in Singapore blanks and test on them. If they also fail then your burner is defective. If they work, well, then you know what was the problem

I've used SMS and it works great: you can stream the videos from your computer, play from CD/DVD media (if your PS2 is chipped) and also play from USB pendrive

Check with the laptop's manufacturer if there any firmware updates available for your burner. Regardless of that, you'll get better burns with a normal size burner in an external enclosure (to use with your laptop) or in a PC case if you have one lying around
