  1. Your drive can only read DVDs, but not burn them. It can read and burn CDs though.
  2. Try with Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x MKM-001-00 Made in Singapore and it should work
  3. Notice to the translators updating their translations using the v1.0.0.4 Base File: under frmSettings double-check the translation of the following strings: ISOWRITE_WriteType.Text ISOWRITE_WriteType.Items Both were changed to include a new write type and are easy to miss, leading to a blank translated Write Type option (fortunately it doesn't affect the program's burning ability).
  4. Use the Verify mode but untick Verify Against Image File
  5. ImgBurn burns disc images as they are, so this is definitely not an ImgBurn issue Sorry but we won't help with anything else than ImgBurn
  6. My bet is that you're using low quality media. Please post a log (you can find it at Help/ImgBurn Logs).
  7. Try JkDefrag (extract and run JkDefrag.exe and it'll sort most things out for you). By the way, when defragging it really helps having the most free space available
  8. MCC 003 -> Verbatim 8x rated DVD+Rs MCC 004 -> Verbatim 16x rated DVD+Rs MCC 02RG20 -> Verbatim 8x rated DVD-Rs MCC 03RG20 -> Verbatim 16x rated DVD-Rs Taiyo Yuden blanks, both DVD-R and DVD+R, are also high quality and worth trying
  9. DVD-Video, which is the format that any DVD player can play. You can do that using DVD Flick (free), ConvertXtoDVD and others
  10. The drive burns any data that you send to it (i.e. it doesn't analyze or even care what's being burnt). My guess is that you had a few bad blanks. Also, have you tried burning at other speeds? 8x would be a good one to try.
  11. Have a look in the Mini-FAQ for Samsung DVD writers, specially the bit about incompatibility with certain VIA chipsets. I also was having problems finalizing DVD+R/+RWs (not DVD+R DLs though), bitsetting didn't work and couldn't update the burner's firmware, and only after reading that mini-FAQ that I saw my motherboard has the incompatible VIA chipset
  12. The log is automagically saved and you can find it at Help/ImgBurn Logs
  13. You get what you pay for. Verbatim blanks are more expensive because their quality is higher and they work when others fail. A firmware update could add a better strategy for writing the blanks you have, but your burner is an OEM model and doesn't seem to have any firmware updates available. If you feel adventurous, you could try and crossflash your burner to a Samsung SH-W162L (which is its real model). But you can also avoid all this hassle by using Verbatim blanks
  14. When you confirm it's an OS disc, it corrects the settings at the time of burning (i.e. it doesn't change the settings in the interface you see). If I recall correctly there is a problem in creating bootable discs with the current version, so you might want to use nLite for creating the images for now
  15. Try WinHEX, it's pretty simple to use
  16. Use an hex editor to open the .mds file and look at the end of that file: there will be the name of the .mdf file it expects to find, so make sure your .mdf has that name. If there's a path before the .mdf filename, remove that path (leave only the .mdf filename) and save, then try opening again in ImgBurn.
  17. Which of the two issues mentioned in the other thread you're having: "cannot find the specified file" or "invalid or unsupported image file format"?
  18. Someone didn't visit the Guides section...
  19. Use Daemon Tools (or similar) to mount the movie-name.mds disc image to a virtual drive. You can then use Nero Recode, DVD Shrink, etc, to re-compress/re-author the disc to make it fit on a common 4.7GB blank DVD
  20. It's the burner/firmware combination that determines how fast/slow you can burn a disc with a certain dye. Besides, slower isn't always the better. May I ask what problem(s) you're having that you think could be solved by using a slower burn speed? By the way, changing strategies with MCSE can severely compromise the burn quality, possibly worse than your current burner/firmware combo at 4x.
  21. Micro$oft Virtual PC 2007 - you can use it to boot and/or "edit" floppy and HD images from any OS
  22. Yes, you still need to create an image from the source disc before burning it
  23. When you try a full erase with ImgBurn, what's displayed in the Log window? Can you copy those lines and paste in a new post for us, please? Have you tried enabling Prefer Format Without Spare Areas and then trying a full erase?
