Can you post a log from when you've burned a DVD instead?

That ISO was made for a DVD+R DL disc so you can't properly burn it to a DVD-R DL disc. Mount that ISO image to a virtual drive, or extract its contents with 7-Zip/WinRAR/etc, and then use Build mode to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to your DVD-R DL disc. Keep the Log window open and pay attention to any messages that ImgBurn may show there.

Try burning at 4x, and if that doesn't work, then use a lens cleaning disc on that burner. You can also manually cleans the burner's lens with a cotton bud and some isopropyl alcohol, but be careful not to force it.

Have you tried that disc on other DVD players? It was a good burn and verify, which means the disc is the same as the source ISO image generated by your slideshow program. Try updating your burner's firmware (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished) as that should add better support for the blanks you're using.

Your drive made a bad burn on that disc. Try burning at 8x or 12x to see if it works better. If you still get errors then you could try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks or maybe use a lens cleaning disc on that burner to see if it helps.

That's a limitation of the DVD-R DL standard: you can't change the position of the layerbreak. As for DVD+R DL, it's been around for ages and your BluRay player should play it without problems. Have you read this?

If there was another option don't you think we would have said it already? As for the Pioneer in the external enclosure, post the log of a burn with it and we'll tell you what can be done to make it work.

Write Protected means his burner doesn't support burning those blanks, or he has some other burning software which is preventing the discs from being burned.

Check your D: drive for errors (in My Computer/Windows Explorer right-click on it go to Properties and look in the Tools tab). By the way, is it an external USB HDD/pendrive?

Return the burner as defective and get an external, non-slim burner instead, because not being able to burn the best blanks on the market is a serious problem.

Optical drives don't work well when connected to RAID controllers: if the RAID driver and controller don't pass along the commands and responses from the burner, the communication can stall and that's not something you'd want to happen in the middle of updating your burner's firmware. If you have a SATA to USB adapter or could temporarily plug the burner to another computer/controller not running in RAID mode then you could safely update your burner's firmware, or at least that's how I would do it

Have you installed the RAID drivers for your SATA controller? Do you really need RAID? By the way, you can find the latest firmware for your burner here, but I'm not sure it's a good idea to update it while connected to a RAID controller.

ImgBurn does send the set write speed command for the speed you've selected, but for some reason the burner is ignoring it. Could you try with a few Verbatim DVD+R blanks? MCC-004-00 is a high quality dye/ink (arguably the best you can buy on the market) that we've seen only in Verbatim DVD+R blanks.

Try that burner on another computer, and if it does the same then you should return/exchange the drive under warranty.
