I got the same error as you did when burning those discs at 6x and that was IMHO only related to poor disc quality. If you have hardware issues (bad connection/drivers) you normally end up with crappy/faulty burns every time you try to burn. Sometimes some disc spindles are of worse quality that others. The quality on Aone discs are not the highest. The price reflects that. So you can expect some discs to fail during a burn.

I think the quality between individual discs can vary between each other and you might get lucky if you try to burn another one.

I have the same drive as you and I test burned two brands with the same media code as you (Disc ID: RICOHJPN-D01-67) and they gave different burn qualities depending on the used speed. All burners today have buffer under run techniques so if the buffer should run "empty", it shouldn't be noticed on the final burned disc.

Hi and welcome to the forum, Tampa87! Either a new drive or use another brand of media. Tried to find a later firmware version, but couldn't find any. Have you checked on the web page for the one who made your laptop/computer? It seems to be a rebadged Lite-On.

Can you see on the package where those Verbatims are made? Should say either Singapore/India/China. Perhaps a cleaning disc could help.

What happens if you select 6x as the write speed. Based on the posts you have tried the other two speeds (4x and 8x).

Hi and welcome to the forum, Nitrius! Might be that you have the source file on your system disk (C:) and you or the system needs to access some other files and that makes the buffer drop a bit. If it just goes down to around 80% it sounds as no issue to be worried about. At the end of the burn the buffers empties as there is nothing more to read from the hard disk and the buffer empties out to the disc you are burning. I've tested to have it at 512MB and the only difference I could find was that it took longer time to start the burn, as there was more to fill in the buffer.
