A cheap Blu-Ray player. Not very keen on the rest of it though. If my 700MHz XBox has trouble dealing with scene demos from a 7MHz Amiga, how much power do you think you'll need to properly emulate a 200MHz PS2? Sony (in their infinite wisdom) has removed the hardware required to play PS2 games and will now ship PAL units with a PS2 emulator instead. Just fabulous.

There's nothing wrong with using your PC while a disk is burning. It used to be a problem a few years ago but not anymore. Not really. Media Player insists on having control of the drive. If Media Player is running, ImgBurn can't have exclusive access to the drive. It's one of the reasons I don't use Media Player.

Spoken like a true idiot. ImgBurn cannot alter, change or in any way affect video or sound files. The sooner you are able to wrap your head around this simple concept the better.

What you're talking about is taking multiple image files and burning them all to a single disk that's playable, yeah? ImgBurn can't do this. Nor can anything else. What you need to do is re-author every file within every image so the IFO files you create with your authoring package are pointing to the correct place. It's a huge job and outside the scope of this software. BTW, WinRAR has associated itself with your ISO files. That's why they look like *ZIP files. Open WinRAR, select the OPTIONS menu and then SETTINGS. Next, click on the INTEGRATION tab and un-tick ISO then hit OK. Fixed.

Good question. There's an advantage to burning directly to disk. There's also an advantage to creating an ISO first. Straight to disk is usually going to be quicker for single copies. For multiple copies, creating an ISO first saves time. Also, any ISOs you create can be added to the "queue". If you have a few disks to do then it's alot simpler to build your ISOs first and then add them to the queue than having to build one then burn one then build one then burn one then build one.....

I couldn't be arsed. A 20x DVD burn with the current quality of media would be alot like wiping your date with a block of sandpaper. Sure, it'd do the job but the end result would just bring tears to your eyes.

I don't play around with aspect ratios very much at all. Never really found any need to. As for what to try, perhaps using a different player at a friends' place. Checking the capabilities of your tv might be a good idea also. Failing that, you could buy an old XBox and get it modded as they play just about anything.

ImgBurn can't change the aspect ratio of your files. I'd be looking at the display options you have available for your player and TV.

I'd try AVI2DVD again. Something simple has obviously gone wrong the first time around. For what it's worth, ImgBurn can't remove video content from your DVD files. Good files in - good files out.

I'm not sure why it's showing as a SCSI drive either. Obviously, it shouldn't. Have you tried swapping the drives around (like putting/adding your NEC on the PCI card)? How many drives have you got (in total) and what are they connected to?

This is a communication problem with your drive. The fact that slowing your drive down to 2.4x avoided the errors pretty much confirms it. I'd suggest changing the interface that ImgBurn uses and seeing if it makes a difference. Download and install the trial version of CloneDVD from http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonedvd.html and install it. Next, reboot and open the ImgBurn settings (Tools menu > settings > I/O) and change the interface from SPTI to "ElbyCDIO - Elaborate Bytes. Close ImgBurn and restart it. Let us know how you go.

How is the drive connected? Optical drives don't work very well when connected to RAID controllers.

I'm curious about the media. It's difficult finding decent media that'll burn at 8x.
