  1. So far as the Russian women go, my understanding is you pick out the ones you like from internet photos then go on a meet and greet holiday in Russia. There you get to chat with the girl of you dreams who whispers sweet, romantic lines in you ear such as...get me a visa and out of this shithole and I'll take my knickers off. Gets you right here, doesn't it.
  2. Felt strange to watch it...all that overacting. So many questions unanswered...what happened to the yeti...what was that cobweb in space business...did Victoria ever come across...?
  3. Wondering if anybody's tried this...that is ordered a wife off the internet? Or thought about it. Loads to choose from...Brazil looks good... Or how about a Thai Bride? Starting to see a lot of them walking around Sainsburys with guys who look in their 50's and are always called Jack for some reason. Supposed to be plenty good jig-jig with no holes bared, so to speak. (thats the Thai women, not the guys called Jack).
  4. Just had a look and its an old Patrick Troughton episode in black & white fighting robot yeti. As you say jack it looks like the only one...should be good though, thanks for the heads up...
  5. Ahhh yes of course!... turn them over and enable pop ups...and no overburning...thank you blu... One more question if I may...? I was thinking of buying a new 20x burner, (see pic below) with the extra slots, but with the industry starting to move to BluRay & HD with the new 50/25Gig discs, (see pic below), I was wondering about them. What do you think...? 20x... BluRay/HD... ...note the 50/25Gig extra large discs... Also, if I bought the 20x I've read that you shouldn't burn too close to the edge, so do you think only the center slots should be used, (the 2 slot model shown is the old 10x times 2)?...
  6. I'd love to help, but sadly my knowledge & expertise can't compare with the incredible abilities of LUK! and the Beta Team members... While I'm here...I bought 50 D/L discs made in Fukup, China, for a pound at the local Poundshop, but I'm having trouble burning them...any suggestions...? Ps...heres a picture of my burner...
  7. Hey Sunbeam...don't let them put you off its been a really good thread and its ok for you to come back as often as you like and ask as many questions as you like. Really...

    Blade 4

People come here to the UK for the benefits. When Channel 4 ran a documentary showing 4 out 5 immigrants pass through 4 other European countries to get here, first the government tried to ban it then said it was racist. Once you have been here in the UK for 6 months you qualify for full State benefits - the lot, housing, health, schools everything. When my mum needed a wheelchair she had to buy it herself after paying into the system for 60 years. Same when she needed a nebulizer to get her through her asthma attacks. Same when she went to a day center. Same when she went into care...
  9. Hi GV how are you? Nobody will be able to answer anything about ripping here due to legal reasons. That's my understanding anyway...

    Blade 4

Sorry to read about the problems you have in your life Pain_Man. The two systems obviously work differently in the US/UK but no matter how the system works the people who need it most always seem to miss out. That was no typo. The Grants Officer at the Local Authority ran the figures through the system to see what the threshold would be for us. The way pensioners are treated in this country is nothing short of a national disgrace. Everything they need is means tested. Their pensions are taxed and if they go into care they have to sell their homes to pay for it. Save for retirement? As for government and local government... don't get me started. Huge wage and pension increases year on year, expenses, perks, junkets abroad (fact finding tours in the Bahamas?), jobs for cronies, top jobs in the city when they leave...and thats just what we know about. 26% of all local taxation goes to fund local authority pensions. Pensioners are being put in jail because they can't afford to pay it or they pay it and go without food and heating. Thousands die each year through cold. These are the old the sick and the vulnerable. As I said a national disgrace. And do you know who the biggest donors to charity are in this country?...yes you guessed it, pensioners.

    Blade 4

My mum died last year of severe Alzheimers. Towards the end her condition was so bad she couldn't get in and out of the bath so I applied for a grant for a walk in shower for her. The grants means tested and because she worked all her life and saved I was told she would have to pay the first ?112,000 towards the cost of a ?3,000 shower. I was told that she wouldn't qualify, but at least the money would go to somebody more deserving. This after she paid into the system all her life. As for Blade 4, I dunno. I've watched the other 3 and they were ok, but I'd rather letch over Kate in Underworld (or underme...even better)...

Thought I'd post the spec: Pioneer continue their highly acclaimed series of DVD writers with the DVR-112. As with the 111 series, drives that have the "D" suffix (DVR-112D version) indicates that it won't write DVD-RAM discs, but the this DVR-112 writer will. Both drives will read RAM discs. There are 6 main differences to the DVR-112D compared to the previous 111 series # DVD+/-R writing speed is increased to 18x # Dual/Double Layer writing speed is increased to 10x # DVD-RAM writing speed is increased to 12x # Performance Adjusting Firmware - automatically optimises the disc?s rotation speed depending on the user?s application ? for example, if watching a movie or listening to music, the disc velocity is reduced in order to keep background noise to a minimum # Multi-effect Liquid Crystal Tilt Compensator - further improves recording and playback characteristics by compensating for discs that are warped or of uneven thickness (operates at high speeds and with Dual/Double layer discs) # Ultra-DRA (Dynamic Rosonance Absober) - suppresses vibration caused by imbalanced discs. Disc-Resonance Stabiliser - controls the airflow generated by the disc-rotation to minimise disc-warping effect that can occur when a disc rotates at high speed. Price:?20.99 Pioneer drives are the ones we always recommend as the mainstream writers least likely to cause their owners problems. Choice of bezel colours also lets you match the writer colour to your PC chassis (Beige / Black / Silver) These drives have standard ATAPI interfaces (not SATA) but require 80-wire cables. These drives are also compliant with Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) regulations The color of this drives bezel is BEIGE Specifications: # Max 18x Writing Speed for DVD-R/-R # Max 10x Writing Speed for DVD-R DL/+R DL (Dual/Double Layer Media) # Max 8x Writing Speed for DVD+RW # Max 6x Writing Speed for DVD-RW # Max 12x Writing speed for DVD-Ram # Max 40x Writing Speed for CD-R # Max 32x Writing Speed for CD-RW # Reads DVD-ROM, DVD-VIDEO, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL & DVD-RAM # Reads CD-ROM (Mode1 & 2), CD-ROM XA, CD Audio, Video CD, PhotoCD, CD EXTRA, CD-Text, CD-R, CD-RW # Disc-At-Once and Incremental Recording (multi-border) on DVDs # Disc/Track/Session-At-Once and Packet Recording (multi-border) on CDs # Multi Effect LCD Tilt Served Compensator Mechanism # Ultra-DRA (Dynamic Resonance Absorber) Low Vibration Mechanism # Performance adjusting firmware # Disc Resonance Stabiliser # Data Buffer Size: 2mb # Interfaces as an ATAPI device (ATA-5 & SFF-8090) # IDE Data Transfer of PIO Mode 4, Multi Word DMA Mode 2, Ultra DMA Mode 2, and Ultra DMA Mode 4 (UDMA 66)

What about the pioneer 112 which LUK! also bought? Has that been tested and scanned?

    New TV

I've been looking round at LCD's 40"+ and my feeling is LCD at that size just don't cut it. The picture quality isn't there and the picture response time is too slow. If your in the UK the spec is way behind the States which is disappointing. My own favourite is the Samsung although I believe the Sharp Aquos is supposed to have the best screen. My feeling is prices are being cut on these TV's to clear out old stock so it may be best to hang on till summer which is what I'm doing. As to 103" - and its over 7' high - put it in a hall and charge admission...

Something I don't get. Wouldn't it make more sense to co-ordinate the buying of drives as now 3 have been bought and, as you must have drives coming out of your ears, buying must be for testing purposes only. Just a thought...
