  1. If L_UK did write this add-on, he's been one busy boy as ImgBurn is now into its 28th beta for version 2. The command line switches for that program (and this one ) are pretty simple. A programmer certainly wouldn't have any problem with them.
  2. G'day. Discovery mode is basically for testing media. ImgBurn creates an internal ISO that is then burned to disk. If you like wasting media (like we do ) by all means, give it a try. Re: DVDInfoPro - If you have this installed then select "Display Graph Data Using DVDInfoPro" from the File menu within ImgBurn after burning a disk.
  3. That's an odd one. Personally, I have no idea why it would do that. Possibly because ImgBurn polls (tries to connect) to Google and Yahoo and Microsoft (the 3 largest sites on the internet) to test for an internet connection before it checks for updates. I don't know why it would play up though unless the Google thingy is acting as a proxy. The boss might have a better idea. On a side note, I'd trust this technology about as far as I could kick it. As far as fetching webpages more quickly, you'd be better off installing an updated HOSTS file than freely passing your information on to Google unnesessarily with christ knows what other crap it installs or information it collects. <paranoia mode off>
  4. No chance of swapping it for one with a HD?
  5. I thought Jon Potter had dumped DOpus altogether? I've tried the Windows version of DOpus a few times in the past and I just don't like it. On the Amiga it was slick, highly configurable and fast. On a Winbox it's even more configurable but it tries to do too much by associating itself with damned near everything, including replacing Explorer, making it bloated and ungainly.
  6. @LUK: Is it him?
  7. You like optical mice? Really? I've never been a fan of them myself but it all comes down to preference, I suppose. I'm guessing you'll have a long search ahead of you looking for a mouse that feels right. Not easy these days.
  8. Odd. Still, 7 years isn't a bad innings for a mouse. I still use the mouse I got with an old HP Pavillion (the nightmares are still with me as well). Just a normal mouse with a solitary testicle. I suppose mine is a good 6 or 7 years old as well. Re: Your mouse with no balls - it may be almost time to retire it. BTW: all this talk of mice has me thinking about *that* photo. You know the one. I can't help myself any longer. It's gotta be done.
  9. Y'know, I've loaded this proggy up a hundred times and it didn't click until today where I'd heard the name Nic Wilson before. If it's the same Nic Wilson I'm thinking of, he was big on the Amiga platform many, many moons ago. A quick search on Google founds hits with an Amiga program called SysInfo which was basically a benchmarking program for testing system speed, ram and all that sort of crap. (SysInfo was probably one of the first programs I ran after purchasing my spanking new Amiga 4000 in about 1992). As an ex-Amiga addict, I often wonder what happened to the people of that era such as Jonathon Potter (of Directory Opus fame), Nico Francois (Powerpacker, Spot and a multitude of other great tools), Anthony Barrett (Max's BBS) and too many others to mention. If it's the same Nic Wilson, I'm pleased to see that he's still around. <wistful sigh mode off>
  10. Can't you glue the thing back on? I'm sure lfc has a puncture repair kit you could borrow.
  11. It's official. I don't like it - mainly because of the stupid way it works. For example: With my i965, if I wanted to print a disk I'd set up the picture, throw a disk into the print tray and hit print. With this new fangled thing, you're not allowed to place the disk into the print tray until after you've told it to print. It then farts about for a good 90 seconds doing whatever it is that it does before another requester appears telling me to insert the print tray. To be fair, the print quality is stunning but I dislike having to "OK" 4 seperate requesters before it starts printing. (If I wasn't ready to print the fooking thing, I wouldn't have hit "print" in the first place). I've always been a fan of Canon printers but this will be the last one I buy as it's let down badly by the amount of interaction required just to get the damed thing to do its job.
  12. I had to read this twice as I thought you'd written something else.
  13. Nope. Straight out of the box this one and the installer is as dumb as a post. It correctly identified older versions of printing tools but overwrote the version of Acrobat Reader I have. Heap'o'crap. Ad-Aware is still running. Looks to be a clean install though. I'll attack the manual again shortly and see if I can print a disk or two.
  14. I love computers. Adding to my recent computer woes (a dicky BIOS in one of my PCs which I still haven't got around to fixing and a server that keeps dropping off my network for reasons that I still can't figure out), comes the news that one of my printers has died (a Canon i565) and the other (a Canon i965) now refuses to print CD/DVD but still prints photos. Not wanting to spend a fortune on a new printer I bought a Canon PixMar ip4200 which apparently prints disks and came with a manual which looks to have been translated from Japanese to Slovakian to Greek to English. Little did I realise when procuring my new toy that having a Masters Degree in foreign languages would be required to facilitate the assembly and installation of said printer. It really is a miracle of modern science. It's as quiet and unassuming as a Panzer tank. (I almost shat when it started printing for the first time). Also, no USB cable was included even though it is if I've deciphered the manual correctly. Just running Ad-Aware atm to see what nasties have been installed besides the included software.
  15. Good thinking, Polo! Stay tuned...... EDIT: 5 minutes later................ Ta Da!
  16. Yep. Drunk on 2 light beers. At least you're cheap. LOL!!!
  17. I actually bought Dragon Natually Speaking a few years back and it was a disaster as the software was written with an American accent in mind. It'd put all sorts of weird stuff on the screen because it couldn't understand my accent (ie. proper English). LOL!
  18. I was bored with the comb-over.
  19. A dalek? Mate, you need to get out more.
  20. This is why I go to computer auctions. About 6 months ago I bought 3 slimline desktop PCs for about US$100 each. 512 RAM, P4 2.4gig, 64meg video etc etc and they work brilliantly. Pretty useless for gaming or whatever but great for most other things.
  21. among other things and USB devices for every occasion I feel I've been stereotyped as a wombat whipping, non-swimmer with an affinity for necrophilia and USB powered sex aides who also happens to like pink skirts...... Wait a minute........ that IS me!
  22. LOL!!!
  23. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/...19/bc-fall.html Last Updated: Wednesday, July 19, 2006 | 9:02 AM PT CBC News An Australian man is recovering from a close brush with death after surviving a fall of nearly 30 metres into a ravine in East Vancouver on Tuesday. The man, who had been drinking, climbed up onto a railing over the ravine near the Commercial Drive SkyTrain station, apparently looking for somewhere to relieve himself. "I guess he was really drunk," said one witness. "He tried to grab on to the tree there, to climb down, and he fell all the way to the bottom." Emergency officials say the man broke at least one bone, but will be OK, as branches slowed his fall. Vancouver fire department Capt. Rick Matsen says it was obvious the man had been drinking until just moments before his fall. "Well, it just so happens he had a beer with him when he was brought up," he said. "Still in his hands?" asked a reporter. "Still in his hands, yup. He held on to it pretty tight, I'm thinking," said Matsen.
