  1. Happy Birthday mate! Have a good one and not too much cola, you know it makes you hyper!!
  2. Was that a regeneration? I thought he just pinched Tremas' body and moved his "Spirit" into it. His plan was to use the power of the keeper to merge with the Doctors body, but when that didnt work he just grabbed the nearest availble one. Maybe the twelve regenerations limit was something imposed by the Time Lords, now there arent here anymore the Doctor can go merrily on his way regenarating with nobody to stop him Now, I have it in my head that during the Deadly Assasin someone refers to Sheboogans which is the lowest class of Gallifreyan, but they arent time lords. This makes me think that the ordinary people can be "promoted" to Time Lord status and thus become able to regenerate. The Sheboogans are the lowest of the low, criminals and hooligans so they wouldnt be able to acheieve higher status but maybe others would. Ha! Found it! I knew i'd read this somewhere Time Lord Politics. Mind you, could all be complete bollocks!!
  3. The age thing is an oddity, in Tomb of the Cybermen the Dr states that he is 400 years old or something like that and the current Dr has stated his age to be around 900 years old. Not 100% sure of these figures but they are roughly right, but when you have a long hard look at the length of time companions stayed with the Dr and the way they have overlapped with each other you can say that the Dr must have done a hell of a lot of years in the rare occasions he has travvelled on his own. He could have gained a few years during the Pertwee era by sneaking off while Jo and the unit gang were asleep and staying away for a few years and then returning the next morning, if you get what I mean. Obviously, we have no idea how many years the Eccleston or McGann Dr's travelled on their own for, so that could account for a few years there. In the Five Doctors the time lords offer the master a whole new regenration cycle in return for his help, so this suggests that regenration is something that is bestowed on a Time Lord rather than something that is natural to them. I read somewhere that the Time Lords are chosen from the ordinary Gallifrey population and when they graduate from the academy they are given a Tardis and a regenration cycle, but i'm damned if I can remember where I read this or wether it was official or not. Please feel free to contradict me as I really arent sure of my facts here.
  4. And theres me thinking you were looking into the future!! I was going to ask you how long it will be untill Billie Piper agrees to marry me!! =))
  5. Crikey Db, I reckon you are a case for Torchwood to investigate!! I'm really looking forward to it, Robin Hood thats been on in Dr Who's slot on a saturday night has been crap so i've really been missing the Doctor.
  6. Weird! the Sontaran experiment is out tomorrow! //www.bbcshop.com
  7. I got the Horror of Fang Rock in the post this week, missed that one when it was aired first time round and had only ever read the paperback. I loved it! The Rutan was a great creature. Now am I right in thinking that was the only story that featured the Rutans? I know they were mentioned by the Sontarans on more than one occasion but I cant remember them ever appearing again.
  8. I've had the album for a few days or so, some really funny stuff on it!
  9. The latest shamble with this bunch of clowns is over six quids worth of ink cartridges! The postage cost nearly as much as the cartridges but I was desparate to finish a college project, I wont be using them again thats for sure. I've ordered some of the 16x from svp so I will see how they go. Although I wont be home this weekend, so it will be midweek before I try them.
  10. Ah, I was tempted for a minute to buy some myself. But not if it involves ukdvdr! I have never had one parcel delivered on time from them and it is all down to the crap couriers they use. I have even offered to pay extra so that they will send stuff by parcel force and they just dont want to know. I live right out in the middle of the country and i'm at work all day and they use a courier whose depot is 40 miles away and that wont leave a parcel without a signature. Parcel Force have a depot a mile away and the thick shits at ukdvdr dont understand why I want to use parcel force! Crap company, crap service in my opinion. Cheap though. By the way I have been using the Panasonic 8x for quite a while and they are pretty good so I might just get some of the 16x if SVP have them, at least I can get the parcels to my house from them!
  11. I was never a fan to be honest, I have kept a few snakes and lizards in the past and I never liked the way he handled them or turned them into some kind of circus act. But saying that it is a terrible shame as he had done a lot of very good work raising awareness of the plight of some of the less cuddly animals that are hunted near to extinction at times. Seems like he just forgot the golden rule that any wild animal, whatever species, size, or shape is still a wild animal and will defend itself in any way it can if aggrevated and annoyed in the way Irwin seemed to do at times. Hopefully all the good work he has done can be carried on by the rest of his team without the need to dangle small children over crocodile cages.

    The Tenth Planet

I reckon we go with the alternate universe theory again It could well be the Tenth planet in another universe just not in this one. Just as an aside, I sometimes forget how groundbreaking that story was. It was the first time we really found out just how alien the Dr was. Great story, and you just have to love the Cybermen in this one As for the name, I go with Douglas on this! Rupert is a great name for a planet!!!
  15. It was just a bit of fun to raise money for Freddies benefit. I still much prefer the real thing myself but the kids love it, since the 20/20 started our junior section at our club has doubled in size, although I think the Ashes may have had something to do with it
  16. Yeah, thats the fellas. Decent players who got fed up with Mugabe and came to live here. Much more fun than that! There were a few geust players for Lancashire, Lehman made 49 but didnt run many singles Chris Cairns smashed a few enourmous sixes and Strauss made a quick fifty and England won by one run. All contrived to give the crowd a tight finish and they even allowed the 13 year old mascot to come on as sub fielder. Vikram Solanka had a great game, out first ball and went for three sixes and three fours in one over! Hilarious!
  17. The Eagles? Oh you mean Essex Eagles! They are doing pretty gold in the one day stuff and their County Championship form has beed decent as well. The Flower brothers score most of the runs for them
  18. Theres nothing metaphorical about the things ive been called on the field Had some fearfully obscene abuse from an Aussie pro a few years ago, but then he was the first one to applaud and say well batted when I got to fifty and he bought the first round in the bar, turned out to be a great bloke but thought my sister was a crap shag! He might lose some weight with all the shagging he will get to do!!!( With him you would have won the series in my view, he wasnt fit when he came back and Lee didnt seem to get to grips with leading the attack, he only looked really threatening just before lunch on the last day at the Oval when he had KP in all sorts of trouble. If KP had of gone then he would have blown us away. McGrath is the key man this winter, without him to back-up Warne the bowling looks weak as does ours without Flintoff. Should be a damn good series, cant wait to see warne bowling at Ali Cook, he doesnt have a clue against quality spin so Warne should have no trouble gettin him if he's brought on early enough. Off to Old Trafford tomorrow evening to see England against Lancashire in a 20/20 game as long as the rain holds off It's supposed to be a warm up for the one day series................................. :
  19. Blu, try as I might, I could never put it better than that. Somebody that has never lived and loved the game can never understand the passion, the pressure, the ecstasy and the agony that can all be experienced in a single day of test cricket. It meant so much to me when we regained the Ashes that I did shed a tear, and we all hugged each other in the pub as the umpires removed the bails at the Oval last year. This year when the umps removed the bails we all shook our heads and wondered what the hell was going on I guess you are talking about Warnes catch at the Oval? That was a pivotal moment for us and I felt for the fella. He was superb at Old Trafford when he got 91, to a man the crowd stood an applauded him off all the way to the pavillion. He was head and shoulders above the rest of your team and really deserved a hundred that day. I only hope we can get a full fit team on the field this winter, I have never known injuries like it Vaughan and Simon Jones are very doubtfull and they are both key players. Do you reckon McGrath will play? It will be a diffrent game with him playing, much tougher proposition with him than without. I'd love to be there to watch it, but I already have two holidays and a cricket tour booked next year and the finances just wont run to it.
  20. Good old Daryl, he's a bloody good umpire. Have to feel a bit sorry for the Pakistanis, they get a wicket and the umpires check the ball and it's fine, 15 minutes later the condition has changed so much that they are accused of cheating and the ball is changed. Seems like they didnt think that KP hitting a couple of sixes into the concrete stands wouldnt affect the state of the ball. A bad situation, badly handled by the umpires and officials. A bad day for cricket.
  21. I got the original Moby Dick out of The Times, it is one of my all time favourite films and I would have bought it if I could have found it a decent price. HMV wanting ?14.99 for a film made in 1956 is downright scandolous! Although Amazon have it at ?4.99 plus P&P. I guess there is some truth in the article though.
  22. Nice to see that RecordNow is compliant now, it used to be a bag of crap and "not fit to burn rags"(?jack1998-2006 ) Had a few horrible experiences with it when I first started burning DVD's, but then I found LUK's burning engine and havent had a coaster since.
